The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) hosted a Manufacturers Roundtable with Senator Dr. Aisha Wahab in the City of Fremont. Wahab represents Senate District 10, covering the cities of Hayward, Union City, Newark, Fremont, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, San Jose and Santa Clara.
CMTA welcomed over 20 companies from Sen. Wahab’s district at the roundtable. The Senator had the opportunity to hear from industry leaders as the 2025/26 legislative session began earlier this month in Sacramento. Fremont has over 900 manufacturers, the most of any city in the state, and supports nearly 60,000 jobs within the industry.

Fremont has a diverse manufacturing ecosystem that reaches top sectors, including biomedical manufacturing, battery R&D and manufacturing, cleantech, robotics, autonomous vehicles R&D and manufacturing, and semiconductor equipment manufacturing.

Dr. Rose-Margaret Itua from Ohlone College presented at the roundtable, showcasing the college’s diverse and invested manufacturing training program for students. Ohlone’s Smart Manufacturing Technology program provides entry-level manufacturing technicians with the relevant knowledge and skills for Advanced Manufacturing in the 21st Century. The program provides students with knowledge and skills for Industry 4.0 standards, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Additive Manufacturing, and emerging Manufacturing processes.
