Sacramento, Calif. – The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) is pleased to welcome FABRIC Mass Timber as a new member, adding a California-based advanced manufacturer of mass timber building systems to its statewide manufacturing network.
Using software-driven manufacturing, advanced automation, and digital fabrication technologies, FABRIC is pioneering a new generation of mass timber manufacturing by transforming underutilized wood fiber from California’s forest restoration projects into high-performance, carbon-storing building systems. The company develops cross-laminated timber (CLT), glue-laminated timber (glulam), and other engineered wood products for public infrastructure, urban development, institutional buildings, and mission-critical facilities.
“FABRIC Mass Timber exemplifies the sustainable manufacturing that will define California’s future,” said Lance Hastings, President & CEO of CMTA. “Their work demonstrates how manufacturers are solving today’s challenges while creating jobs, strengthening supply chains, and developing technologies that benefit communities statewide. We are excited to welcome FABRIC to CMTA and to share their story as part of California’s manufacturing network.”
“FABRIC is excited to join CMTA and connect with policymakers, manufacturers, and industry leaders throughout California,” said Scott Ehlert, Founder & CEO of FABRIC Mass Timber. “Our mission is to build a new generation of California manufacturing by combining software-driven production, advanced robotics, locally sourced materials, and innovative building systems. We believe California should lead not only in designing the buildings of the future, but in manufacturing them here at home. We look forward to collaborating with CMTA and its members to strengthen California’s industrial base while creating new markets for locally sourced, low-carbon building materials.”
As California works to strengthen domestic supply chains and expand advanced manufacturing, companies like FABRIC demonstrate how technology, sustainable materials, and industrial innovation can work together to solve some of the state’s most pressing challenges. By connecting forest restoration, advanced manufacturing, and modern construction, FABRIC is helping build a more resilient and competitive California economy.

About CMTA
The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) has advocated for pro-growth laws and regulations before the California legislature and administrative agencies since 1918. The total output from manufacturing in California is $382 billion per year, roughly 10 percent of the total economic output of the state. Manufacturers employ 1.2 million Californians paying wages more than $25,000 higher than other non-farm employers in the state. For more information, visit CMTA’s website.
