Elizabeth Esquivel is the Vice President of Government Relations at the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), where she is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of legislative and regulatory strategies that advance the organization’s objectives and priorities.
Prior to joining CMTA, Elizabeth served as the Assistant Executive Director of Government Relations for a prominent statewide association representing school business leaders and administrators. In this key position, she spearheaded advocacy efforts focused on advancing policies that support sustainable K-12 financing. Elizabeth was also responsible for delivering in-depth policy analysis, offering strategic insights, and crafting actionable recommendations to drive impactful decision-making at the state level. Her work ensured that the association’s priorities were effectively communicated to policymakers and stakeholders, positioning her as a vital voice in shaping education policy.
Elizabeth’s career also includes extensive experience as a Capitol staffer in both the California State Assembly and Senate. In these roles, she expertly managed complex legislative agendas while playing an instrumental part in shaping policy across a diverse array of critical sectors, including labor, education, transportation, and energy.
In addition to her professional role, Elizabeth serves as an elected Trustee of the Yolo County Board of Education and is a member of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board of Directors.
Elizabeth was recognized as a “40 Under 40” honoree by the Sacramento Business Journal in 2022. She is a graduate of both the Sacramento Creciente Leadership Program and the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality Leadership Institute.
Elizabeth holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and resides in West Sacramento with her family and three dogs.
