Sarah Johnson currently serves as the Director of Membership Engagement & Business Development for the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA). Since joining the executive team in February 2021, Sarah has put a new perspective on member recruitment while understanding California manufacturers’ unique challenges. She works diligently to create new opportunities for manufacturers to continue to do business in California. Sarah articulates CMTA’s prospects and the importance of our efforts in Sacramento to the 30,000 California manufacturers.
Sarah has helped to develop CMTA’s Scholarship Program, including an annual charity golf tournament to raise money to provide scholarships for the next generation to pursue a career in manufacturing.
Before joining CMTA, Sarah began her career in project management and customer success management in technology, working with mobile marketing and web development companies.
In 2018, Sarah expanded her career into the membership association industry as the Director of Membership and Business Development for the California Fashion Association (CFA) in Los Angeles. There she supported the apparel and textile industry. Sarah grew the organization by more than 30 percent in three years and ensured more than 99 percent member retention. She brings a distinct understanding and knowledge of the manufacturing community through her many interactions with manufacturers in Southern California.
Furthermore, in 2017, Sarah and her family founded “The Soule Foundation” in honor of her Father, Dwight Johnson. In Dwight’s memory, the Johnson Clan continues to host the “Annual Dwight Johnson Golf Classic” to raise money for local charities in the Seattle area.
