CA Manufacturers comment in advance of climate lawsuits decision

May 24, 2018 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association President Dorothy Rothrock issued the following statement today in advance of U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup's decision on Califorina's climate liability lawsuits:

"Climate change is a challenge that elected officials, not courtroom judges, should address in a manner that make sense for businesses, consumers and the economy. This type of public nuisance litigation, promoted by trial attorneys looking for a big payday, has historically failed in the courts. But the costs to defend against the lawsuits will be ultimately passed along to consumers and divert resources away from more innovative efforts to address climate change. We recommend that communities concerned about climate change work alongside manufacturers in support of their ongoing efforts to improve the environment."
