Manufacturing Day 2016 will demonstrate California's MFG talent & innovation

Oct. 4, 2016 Sacramento, CA -- Today, the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) announces a record 169 California events for this Friday's national Manufacturing Day (#MFGday16). California manufacturers, as well as schools that specialize in industrial training, will open their doors to both demonstrate the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.

In conjunction with this event, CMTA authored a Manufacturing Day Resolution earlier this year with Assemblyman Marc Steinorth and we will announce our ninth Manufacturing Champion with a video on Friday. It's a tremendous company in California's Central Valley that has taken traditional manufacturing to innovative new heights and boasts of a California supply chain of more than 700.

Manufacturing Day was created in 2012 as an annual event on the first Friday of every October by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to highlight the contribution of manufacturers to their communities. The event has grown each year into a national sense of pride for the men and women who produce our products and drive our economy, and also an opportunity to showcase the state-of-the-art innovation in our operations.

"It's CMTA's proudest day," said CMTA president Dorothy Rothrock. "It's a perfect opportunity to show our lawmakers that our state's economy is built on a manufacturing community that is innovative, efficient, exciting, and a national leader. Every policy coming out of our state government should look to grow the state's manufacturing base or at least do it no harm. With the cleanest manufacturing industry in the world, retaining and attracting manufacturing jobs in California should be a high priority."

The rallying point for a growing mass movement, Manufacturing Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and lawmakers understand the industry's importance. To that end, CMTA staff will attend six specific events on October 7:

Other CMTA member events include:

  • Ace Clearwater (details, invitation only)
  • Alom (details)
