California Manufacturers & Technology Association moves to the heart of Capitol

March 31, 2008 Sacramento, CA -- Today, after 14 years on the 22nd floor of 980 Ninth Street, the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) opened the doors to its new two-story headquarters in the heart of the Capitol at 1115 Eleventh Street, Sacramento.

"We see tremendous benefit to moving so close to the Capitol," said CMTA President Jack Stewart. "Our members don't have time to integrate with the complex Capitol environment so they expect us to do so. This puts us in the middle of the action and, while we're leasing the property now, we hope to purchase the building if the opportunity arises."

CMTA spent 14 years at the previous building and has a long Sacramento presence since moving here from Benicia after organizing in 1918.

"CMTA is the most effective industry representative for California manufacturers. This move gives them even more exposure to the intricacies of the Capitol and provides them with a central headquarters to advocate important issues, such as educating a new and technical workforce, competitive tax policies, mutual economic and energy goals, and more," said CMTA Chairman and California Steel Vice President, Brett Guge. "Congratulations to CMTA."
