Bill creating a Commission to address automation and the workforce moving forward

Senator Henry Stern’s (D-Sherman Oaks) SB 1470, establishing the California Commission on Technology, Automation and the Future of Work is moving forward and has been sent to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for a hearing when the legislature returns from its recess on August 6th. CMTA has previously written on the bill here.

Senator Stern has expressed an interest in working with CMTA to obtain the perspective of the manufacturing industry – which has been dealing with the issue of automation in various forms for nearly a century – and ensure the proposed Commission fairly represents those sectors that will be most heavily impacted by automation.
