Manufacturers recommend focus on middle class job creation to support the state budget
Jan. 10, 2017 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association president Dorothy Rothrock made the following statement today regarding Gov. Jerry Brown's proposed State Budget for 2017-18:
"The health of the California state budget depends on growing the economy to create middle class jobs for thousands of California citizens. We are concerned that the state budget will be vulnerable this year and in the future as the share of US manufacturing investments coming to California is far below what we need to maintain our manufacturing employment base. To create sustainable state finances the Governor and legislators should prioritize policies to support manufacturing's high wage job growth, remove barriers to manufacturing investment, and support funding for skilled workforce development programs."
