California manufacturers disappointed in costly and unnecessary SB 32 vote
Aug. 23, 2016 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association President Dorothy Rothrock issued the following statement regarding passage of SB 32:
"California is on track to meet our 2020 climate change goals. There is no need to pass a 2030 goal right now and many reasons to wait until we get the policies right. This bill gives the Air Resources Board unchecked authority to increase costs on manufacturers and our economy, threatening manufacturing jobs, expansions and other investments. CMTA believes that a well-designed cap-and-trade program is the most cost effective way to reduce emissions but SB 32 does not provide for that approach. We urge the Governor to veto this bill so we can start over and get it right."
