Manufacturing leader comments on minimum wage bill signing
April 4, 2016
Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association president Dorothy Rothrock made the following statement regarding Senate Bill 3 becoming law:
"Manufacturing provides the opportunity for middle skilled workers to obtain the higher wage jobs available in the manufacturing economy. Imposing such a steep minimum wage increase on manufacturers, including large established companies and small firms that want to grow in California, creates a challenge by raising their labor costs in a globally competitive market. For this reason, the Governor and Legislature should quickly take steps to improveits business climate and adopt policies to encourage manufacturing investments and job growth in the state."
