Manufacturers comment on new Strike Bomber being built in California
Nov. 2, 2015 Sacramento, CA -- California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) president Dorothy Rothrock made the following statement on the Pentagon's announcement to award the new Long Range Strike Bomber to Northrop Grumman:
"The Strike Bomber contract is a tremendous boost for California where the aerospace industry is a key part of our manufacturing economy.
The contract means thousands of new high wage technical jobs for the state and will provide supply chain benefits to all of California. Hundreds of subcontractors up and down the state will undoubtedly supply major subsystems and support for what the Pentagon calls the backbone of our Air Force's future strike and deterrence capabilities.
In 2013 CMTA was pleased to support a sales tax exemption on equipment purchases and tax credits for new job creation to make California an attractive place to produce the new aircraft.
Incentivizing manufacturing job growth helps us compete for new projects and sends a strong message that California wants to be on the top of the list for new manufacturing investments. Congratulations to Northrop Grumman and California."
