CMTA Congratulates The Boeing Company on Historic Land Agreement
Oct. 12, 2007 The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) salutes the historic agreement announced today between The Boeing Company, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Senator Sheila Kuehl, establishing a process for Boeing to donate nearly 2,400 acres of land in the Santa Susana Mountains to the state for use as public park lands.
“This partnership is a terrific example of the private sector working with government to craft mutually beneficial solutions to complicated environmental issues,” said CMTA president Jack Stewart. “Boeing will fulfill its responsibility to restore the land to residential use standards, the state will acquire a valuable new asset and future generations will have access to park lands in the Santa Susana Mountains.”
The site is currently the home of Boeing’s Santa Susana Field Laboratory, a former rocket engine test site and nuclear research facility near Simi Valley in Ventura County.
